MICHIGAN – Throughout 2005, Urban Options, a Michigan-based nonprofit organization will be administering the Solar Domestic Hot Water (SDHW) Rebate Program, made possible through a grant from the Michigan Energy Office. Consumers participating in Michigan’s SDHW Rebate Program will receive a rebate of up to 50% for the cost of their installed solar hot water system. To participate in the program, residents need to call (866) 846.7349. Other benefits to consumers are: experienced and trained installers, quality equipment, warranted labor and materials and an on-site inspection process.

The program promotes solar energy giving Michigan consumers an opportunity to reduce utility bills and help the environment.

Typically, over the course of its lifetime, a solar domestic water heater will: Prevent as much as 50 tons of greenhouse gas emissions; pay for itself through reduced utility bills; and contribute to economic development through less dependency on fossil fuels.
