Welcome to Alger Delta! Whether you live on our system year round, or have a cabin that is only used seasonally, we’re glad to have you as a member.
Alger Delta was founded in 1937 by America’s first modern environmentalists – farmers and woodsmen. They needed electricity to stay competitive and to operate efficiently. The nearby utility companies said it was too expensive to run lines to remote locations – so five men got together to look into the new REA, (Rural Electric Administration), program. Since then, Alger Delta has grown to provide service to about 10,000 residential, seasonal and commercial members in six counties in the central Upper Peninsula.
Although we’ve been around for more than 70 years, we never take success for granted. We strive to provide reliable electric service throughout our service area while being responsible stewards of the resources we use and the lands in which we work..
